Ying Gao. The gaze-activated dresses

The innovative fashion designer Ying Gao created a new collection of high-tech dresses that react to human gaze by lighting up, giving birth to an amazing intricate web of interlaced luminescent threads that look like a fluorescent sea creature.

Ying Gao explained that in order to obtain the visual effect, he used an eye-tracking system that catches the glance of the casual spectator and activates minuscule motors embedded in the fabric moving and lighting up the whole dress or only parts of it.
