In the works of Mark Dorf the natural, tangible environment merges with its digital representation creating an enchanting setting.
“The human race is constantly recording data and transforming elements of our physical surroundings into abstracted and non-physical calculations in order to gain an understanding of the world,” the artist told New York Times.
The art of the American artist reveals the way humans relate to their natural environment, trying to comprehend it with the use of mathematics, scientific interpretation and digital rendering.
“When calculated representation is compared to its real counterpart, an arbitrary and disconnected relationship is created in which there is very little or no physical or visual connection resulting in questions of definition,” stated Mark Dorf.
