The German graphical designer and artist Matthias Jung is fascinated by the technique of creating collages since childhood when he was playing in his father’s photo laboratory and created the first “fantastic buildings” as he named them.
Each and every montage breaks every rule of architectural structure, thus challenging our imagination and sense of reality as his collages are at a first glance extremely realistic.
“I am always amazed at how architectural details can evoke certain associations and feelings. This is how a latticed window conveys cosiness; one might even say it is soulful. Framework is soothing, sometimes touching. Antennas have something sinister about them. They point to something outside the picture. Concrete is cold and foreign – but maybe interesting for just that reason,” states the artist on his website.
