Inspired by the most intricate shapes found in nature and by the amazing creativity of the ancient Japanese technique of origami, the English artist Richard Sweeney has revived with his amazing 100% paper installations the art of creating extraordinary structures with the sole use of ordinary sheets of paper.
His 3D paper sculptures range in height from a few centimeters to floor-to-ceiling complex installations and can embody simple minimalistic objects or multifaceted scenarios that include paper horses, angels preparing to take flight, shells, sculptures or phantasmagorical flying machines.
You can see Richard Sweeney’s sculptures in one of the exhibitions featured in the tour named Above the Fold. Also, the artist will showcase his work later this summer in CODA Museum, Apeldoorn, The Netherlands.
